How to disable Windows Defender on window 10 permanently

In this tutorial we'll show you how to turn off Window Defender permanently in Window 10 latest by using Group Policy and Registry

Disable Windows Defender by Group Policy

In case you are using Window 10 Professional or other edition, such as Window 10 Enterprise or Window 10 Education, you can disable it by Local Group Policy.
Step 1: Open Group Policy as Administrator and Browse to this path: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender Antivirus

Step 2: Double Click on Turn off Window Defender Antivirus. Choose Enable and Click Apply and OK

After you complete these changing, you still see the Windows Defender icon is continue running in the system tray. To get rid of the icon, simply restart your computer.

By the way, if you want to enable Windows Defender again, you have to follow the same steps, but this time, you have to choose the option Not Configured. Then restart your computer to complete reverting the changes.

Disable Windows Defender by Registry

If you are using Windows 10 Home, you didn’t have access to the Local Group Policy Editor, as it's only available for enterprise versions of the operating system. However, you can modify the registry to accomplish the same result.

Important: Before diving into this guide, it's worth noting that editing the registry can be dangerous, and it can cause irreversible damage to your system if you don't do it correctly. It's highly recommended to make a full backup of your system before proceeding. You've been warned!

Step 1: Open registry and browse to this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender

Step 2: In cash your computer did't have the DWORD DisableAntiSpyware, you have to create new DWORD by right click in empty area and New and click DWORD (32bit) with name DisableAntiSpyware.

Step 3: set value 1 (In cash it have already DWORD with value 0 so you have to change to 1)

Step 4: Restart computer one time to make it effect.

By the way, if you want to enable Windows Defender again, you have to follow the same steps, but this time, you have to change the value from 1 to 0. Then restart your computer to complete reverting the changes.
